Monte Alban

Interesting to learn that there were at least 16 ethnic and linguistic groups inhabiting this area during late Pre-hispanic times, making it one of the most important cultural centres in Meso-America. The ancient city of Monte Alban was one of the main Pre-hispanic settlements for 1300 years (!), between 500 BC and 800 AD. It was here that the Zapotec culture flourished.
